Lukas Augenstein Wins At International Tapas Competition!
We are so proud of Culinary Arts graduate and current SD&B student, Lukas Augenstein for his Second Place win! Lukas was chosen from over 250 applicants as one of the 14 students to fly to Valladolid, Spain and compete last week in the Fourth Annual International Tapas Competition. His tapas consisted of Sherry Cured Smelt on a Pink Peppercorn & Orange Zest Cracker with Fried Caper Aioli; it was accompanied by pickled shallots, sea bean and a bachelor button blossom. Along with his trip to Spain, Lukas was awarded 2 chefs coats, a very expensive tool kit and 6,000€ to be used towards a culinary internship anywhere in the U.S. He hopes to relocate to San Francisco after he completes school.
