BOB HART 1947 – 2012 – LEGENDARY CONTRIBUTOR To The SEATTLE CULINARY ACADEMY PASSES

No one believed in the work we are doing more than Bob Hart. He felt that the Seattle Culinary Academy resides at the intersection of some of the most important issues today because food is intrinsically linked to the environment and that chefs play a critical role in shaping our relationship to food. He taught our students to become stewards of the earth by donating two acres of Skagit Valley farmland so they would have the chance to get their hands in the dirt and learn the struggles associated with the will to grow something healthy and delicious. And by doing so, Bob knew they would learn respect for the land and respect for the farmer. His vision and generosity have forever changed the quality of education we are able to provide. It also enhanced our student’s contribution power to community by helping them to understand their responsibility to safeguard the land. The only thing equal in size to his generosity was his laughter. We will miss him dearly.
